Effects of the Great Awakenings
The Great Awakenings notably altered the spiritual climate in the American seaboard colonies. Many people were encouraged to seek the face of God personally, instead of relying on the parson or minister as many had been raised to do.
One could say that the Great Awakening influenced the Revolutionary War by encouraging the thoughts and ideas of nationalism and palatibility of individual rights.
Several well known higher education institutions, including Princeton, Rutgers, Brown and Dartmouth universities.
