What is a ‘Pogrom’ ?

A ‘pogrom’ is a social disturbance where there is public damage and disarray (looting, burning, destruction of lives and personal property on various scales); or an organized massacre.

The regular denotation of a pogrom is that of an organized massacre of helpless or defenseless people. More specifically, often in the historical context of a massacre of Jewish People. Jewish people have experienced massacres of their communities in many of the lands they have lived around the world.

A pogrom often occurs when a people, which can be any ethnic group, tribe, or affiliation, often a mob, is possessed by a spirit of violence and descends with fury upon another group.

  • Yet the pogrom is also an repeated historical variable. Meaning, a pogrom can occur in ANY geography and come forth from ANY people(s) towards ANY group of people.

There is no such thing as one group always the victim all the time. Circumstances of conflict and danger change over the generations, years and centuries. With victim and oppressor often changing roles.

  • So what then is the way forward you might ask? If you are too shy to ask, I shall politely ask for you.

The Pogroms we are going to be experiencing the more at the present time are not going to come so much as from ignorance of another group or people. Instead these pogroms shall manifest from out of hearts making a bar of righteousness for ourselves in place of God who is God.

Personal Behavior

Francis Schaeffer

Francis Schaeffer (a Dissenter, Non-Conformist , Non-Government Church Christian and philosopher of an extra bright mind permitting him to see beyond the conventional and contemporary. A voice whom you may not have heard of or listened to) had these important conclusions on the behaviour and consequences to society in his series:

How Then Shall We Life

In his videos, Schaeffer discusses Post-Modernist thinking; and what this kind of thinking can bring upon a society if left unchecked. In his video Schaeffer discusses how mass media can create images in our minds that may not be the truth or the whole story.
